摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel for high-frequency induction hardening, which hardly causes lowering of fatigue life even when a foreign matter is included in a lubricating oil of a linear motion guiding device and exfoliation or metal slip occurrs due to the defective lubrication on the surface of the steel material of the device resulting from the concentration of stress at the impressions caused by the foreign matter. <P>SOLUTION: The steel for high-frequency induction hardening contains 0.7-0.9 mass% of C, 0.4-1.0 mass% of Si, 0.5-1.25 mass% of Mn,≤0.030 mass% of P,≤0.030 mass% of S,≤0.4 mass% of Cr,≤0.05 mass% of Al,≤0.003 mass% of Ti and≤0.0020 mass% of O, while satisfying the formula represented by [Mn]≤0.5+0.35/[Si], and the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities. The steel has an annealed hardness of≤93 HRB and a high-frequency quenched layer after the high-frequency induction hardening has 20-40 mass% of retained austenite and a hardness of≥61 HRC. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p>
