PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an azimuth of an object with high accuracy irrespective of space width of receiving elements. SOLUTION: In the object azimuth detecting device 1, a phase difference calculating section 13 calculates the phase difference between the complex correlative value detected by a pulse compression section 10a for reflection wave received by a receiving microphone 6a and the complex correlative value detected by a pulse compression section 10b for reflection wave received by another receiving microphone 6b, and based on the phase difference calculated, the space width of the receiving microphone 6a and the microphone 6b, and the wavelength of transmitted wave, an orientation calculating section 14 calculates the orientation of the object. A phase difference is held between received signals before and after operation owing to linear operation of correlation detecting operation, while enhancing S/N ratio, so that the orientation detection becomes possible using the phase difference to detect orientation of the object with high accuracy irrespective of the space width of the receiving microphone 6a and the microphone 6b.
