PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet carrier device and an image forming device loading a lateral registering function in high precision certainly carrying out lateral shifting of a sheet. SOLUTION: These sheet carrier device and image forming device have a lateral registration detection sensor S2 to detect quantity that the sheet is slipped off in the lateral direction orthogonal with the carrying direction, a lateral shifting means to return the carried sheet to a standard position after shifting it in the lateral direction by moving a lateral shift roller 31 positioned at the standard position in accordance with a detection result of the lateral registration detection sensor S2 and a control means to change shift starting by the lateral shifting means in correspondence with the sheet so as to make delay time longer than when it is less than prescribed quantity when length in the carrying direction of the sheet to carry is larger than the prescribed quantity and to make the delay time less than time while the lateral shift roller 31 can return to the standard position until a point of time to start next lateral shift of the sheet after shifting the sheet to carry by moving the lateral shift roller 31 in starting after the prescribed delay time after the sheet arrives at a prescribed position.
