An OOB detection circuit and a serial ATA system are provided to perform accurate signal determination even when a characteristic varies in a analog circuit. A characteristic adjusting register(12) is connected to an amplitude judging circuit(1), and changes the setup of an amplitude threshold adjustment tool to distinguish the burst and squelch set up in the amplitude determination circuit. The characteristic adjusting register is controlled by a magnetic judging circuit(13). The output of the amplitude judgment circuit is provided to a time judging circuit(2) and the magnetic judging circuit at the same time. The magnetic judging circuit controls the characteristic adjusting register based on the output of the amplitude judging circuit.
