PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and driving method of the imaging apparatus in which high-speed processing during image pickup driving can be performed while avoiding a horizontal blanking term from being prolonged. SOLUTION: There are included a horizontal transfer term during which image signals are output from a solid-state imaging device line by line, and a data transfer stop term during which the output of image signals is stopped. During the data transfer stop term excepting for a horizontal blanking term between horizontal transfer terms each other, an analog front end circuit unit inputs an overflow drain signal, thereby sweeping out signal charge.
