PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce force required for switching between a state in which a transfer body is in contact with each image carrier and a state in which the transfer body is separated from each image carrier. SOLUTION: The branch portion 2014 of a first slider and the shaft center 2041 of a rectangular cam 204 are placed at positions away from each other and the first slider 201 is arranged on the most left side by a change in the posture of the rectangular cam 204. A branch portion 2011M therefore butts against the right side of a second arm portion 213M to push it to the left. Consequently, a primary transfer roll 21M is moved upward and separated from an intermediate transfer belt 20. The branch portion 2021 of a second slider 202 butts against the left side of a second arm portion 213K to push it to the right and a primary transfer roll 21K is moved upward and separated from the intermediate transfer belt 20 by the same action as the primary transfer roll 21M. Similarly, primary transfer rolls 21Y and 21M, a first idler roll 25 and a second idler roll 26 are moved upward and separated from the intermediate transfer belt 20. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
