A method of treating a biomass which is an industrial resource originating in materials constituting presently living animal or plant bodies, characterized by comprising degrading the biomass by a blasting treatment and then removing volatile components such as water therefrom followed by gasification by treating with an alkali melt salt. The blasting treatment is conducted by stirring the biomass material in an airtightly closed environment at a temperature of 100 to 300oC under a pressure of 1 to 20 MPa for a definite period of time to thereby spread pressure, next bringing the pressure back to the range of 0.1 to 0.5 MPa thereby conducting blasting, and thus degrading the biomass material via the hydrothermal reaction (chemical reaction) by cooking and the blasting (physical reaction). Thus, the speed of the subsequent reaction can be elevated and the biomass material (for example, livestock urine and feces) having a large moisture content or variation in carbon content can be economically converted into energy without being affected by such variable factors.
|
