The elevator module has a region, which extends into a drive slot of a library. The region has a retaining region with a robot for changing of storage media. Another region extends into a drive slot of another library. The latter region has another retaining region with a robot for changing of storage media. An elevator transports the storage media between the two regions. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for connecting two libraries for storage media; and (2) a method for the exchange of storage media between two libraries.
