A communication aid for use in foreign language situations includes an array of plates 102, each including one or more images intended to indicate at least one of a particular situation, object, location or action. The plates are arranged in a stack and linked via a fixed pivot 104, e.g. a pin or shaft extending through each plate, whereby the plates are movable relative to one another about the fixed pivot 104. The plates may be of relatively stiff construction, so as to be substantially self-supporting, and may be laminated or have a waterproof coating. |
