The device (1) has a synchronizing ring (2) e.g. synchronizing inner ring and synchronizing outer ring, and a counter wheel (4) facing each other, where the synchronizing ring is provided with an inner surface (10) and an outer surface (12). One of the inner and outer surfaces cooperates with an appropriate surface in the counter wheel. The inner surface or outer surface of the synchronizing ring is molded with plastic material, which serves as a friction lining. The synchronizing ring is molded with the plastic material at the inner surface and at the outer surface. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a synchronizing ring for a synchronization device of a change speed gearbox.
