The device has an integrated, pyrotechnical load (9) for interrupting a current flow to a semiconductor element e.g. power transistor (1.1), during occurrence of stress peak and over-current. The load is integrated in a current path (6), which is disconnected by ignition of the load in such a manner that the current flow is interrupted. A drain-terminal and a source-terminal of the power transistor are contacted with respective conductive, low resistance contact elements (2, 3). Two insulated guiding bodies (7, 8) are connected with the respective contact elements.
