PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for facilitating panoramic photographing with high accuracy. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: a display part 23; a solid-state imaging element 5 for photographing an object and outputting an imaging signal; a digital signal processing part 17 having a function for generating first image data for panoramic image data generation from the imaging signal output from the solid-state imaging element 5 by photographing instructed in a panoramic photographing mode, a function for generating second image data for a through image to be displayed in the display part 23 from the imaging signal output from the solid-state imaging element 5 in the panoramic photographing mode, and a function for generating third image data in the same format as the second image data from the imaging signal output from the solid-state imaging element 5 by the photographing instructed; and a correlation detecting part 26 for detecting correlation between data in a first region set at the end of the third image data generated by the photographing instruction and data in a second region set at the end of the second image data generated after the photographing instructed.
