PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-weight bulky printing paper for offset printing, which has high opacity in printed state even having a low basis weight, and has printability and surface strength. SOLUTION: The printing paper contains a porous filler in an amount of 0.5-10.0 mass% as a filler in the paper, wherein the porous filler contains a silicon-containing particle formed of silicon dioxide and/or a silicate and a metal compound in an amount of 0.1-8.0 pts.mass in terms of oxide based on 100 pts.mass of the silicon-containing particle, and has the following properties (1) to (3), and the printing paper has a basis weight of 45 g/m<SP>2</SP>or less, an opacity of 91% or more after printing, and a smoothness of 20-200 sec. The properties: (1) 10-150 m<SP>2</SP>/g specific surface area, (2) 0.10-0.80μm fine pore diameter, and (3) 16-40μm average particle diameter. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
