PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PM synchronous motor realizing an increase in a torque by a small number of magnets. SOLUTION: A rotor 2 has a soft magnetic segment 13 between magnetic salient pole sections 15 and 15. A front-side permanent magnet 11 is fitted between the front side face of the magnetic salient pole section 15 on the front side and the front end of the segment 13 and a rear-side permanent magnet 12 between the front side face of the rear-side permanent magnet 12 and the front end of the segment 13. The stator is given larger magnet fluxes on the rear side than on the front side of the outer peripheral surface of the segment 13 by various methods. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
