<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thickener mixed with cellooligosaccharides, in addition to CMC-alkali metal salt, and which is improved in thickening properties and dispersibility, and to provide a food composition and a medical composition each of which is mixed with the thickener. <P>SOLUTION: This thickener is improved in thickening properties and dispersibility, by mixing cellooligosaccharides, in addition to CMC-alkali metal salt.
