The wheel has a set of hollow fan blades (2) attached to a fan wheel hub (1), and a solid or hollow drive shaft (3) that moves the wheel in a rotary motion. A hydrodynamic coupling (4) or viscous coupling is arranged at the hub, and includes a primary wheel in drive connection with the shaft or is directly attached to the shaft. A secondary wheel that is in drive connection with the blades is directly attached to the blades. The secondary wheel is integrally formed with the fan blades from the same material. The secondary wheel and the blades are made of plastic, aluminum or sheet metal. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a fan wheel.
