<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate starting by accurately calculating a path loss in amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) starting. <P>SOLUTION: In an optical amplification device, a dummy main signal is created from amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) by filtering for canceling bands other than a main signal band. In an optical transmission system, the dummy main signal is output to a transmission node and/or a relay node and in the relay node and/or a reception node, the gain required for compensating for a path loss is calculated. Thus, the path loss is accurately calculated in ASE starting and accuracy in gain setting is improved, thereby accelerating system starting. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
