PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of suppressing deterioration of fuel consumption in a case of failure of a part of ignition means out of a plurality of ignition means arranged in one cylinder. SOLUTION: This control device 1 for the internal combustion engine controls an engine 3 operable at a lean air-fuel ratio, which is provided with a plurality of cylinders 5 with a plurality of ignition plugs 15 per one cylinder 5, and moreover, operable by gasoline and ethanol that are a plurality of kinds of fuels with different properties. In a case of failure of one ignition plug 15 out of the plurality of ignition plugs 15, the fuel is fed to the cylinder 5 with the failed ignition plug 15 by increasing the feed rate of ethanol out of the gasoline and ethanol, which is capable of operating the engine 3 at the leaner air-fuel ratio than gasoline.
