PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast receiving system capable of always shortening starting time when a user applies power by grasping a user's position using a sensor technology, and its control method. SOLUTION: In a state that the power is not applied to the broadcast receiver, when the user exists in a sensor detection area, activation of an OS, initialization of an application, decoding processing are started, and when the user does not exist in the detection area, the processing is stopped.
