<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily select an image forming device best suited to his/her print request from among a plurality of image forming devices connected via a network. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming system connecting a PC3 being used by a user with a plurality of image forming devices via a network, each image forming device stores print performance information concerning all the other image forming devices in addition to its own. The PC3 first makes a print request to an image forming device 4, and the image forming device 4 selects another image forming device 5 as the most suitable device of all the image forming devices to meet the print request, which is then reported to the PC3.
