A liquid crystal display (100) comprises a liquid crystal layer (1), a front substrate (3) and a back substrate (2) for holding the liquid crystal layer (1) between, a pair of electrodes (4, 8) arranged to sandwich the liquid crystal layer (1) and applying a voltage to the liquid crystal layer (1), circularly polarizing plates (15, 16) arranged, respectively, on the front side of the front substrate (3) and on the back side of the back substrate (2), and first and second orientation films (13, 12) formed between the liquid crystal layer (1) and the front and back substrates (3, 2), respectively, wherein the liquid crystal layer (1) has a continuous wall (10), a plurality of small chambers (14) separated by the wall (10), and a plurality of liquid crystal regions (11) formed, respectively, in the plurality of small chambers (14) for each pixel. The plurality of liquid crystal regions (11) have first and second liquid crystal regions each having a director (20) in the plane parallel with the liquid crystal (1), and the directors (20) in the first and second liquid crystal regions are turning to the directions different from each other.
