A puffer type circuit breaker using insulation gas is provided to increase electrical and mechanical reliability by reducing the size of the breaker without damage of the performance of the breaker. A breaker includes a fixed and movable main contact(21,22), fixed and movable arc contact, a buffer, and insulating nozzle(27). A flange-shaped pressure unit is formed at the end of the insulating nozzle, and the hollow cylinder unit is arranged to be concentric with the fixed arc contact. The flange-shaped pressure unit is moved from the inside of the hollow cylinder, which has a pressure receiving plate. A gas release hole is formed at the side of a semi-insulating nozzle of the pressed plate, and the insulating nozzle sprays the insulating gas between the fixed arc contact and the movable arc contact. A part of the ejected gas remains between the flange-shaped pressure unit and a pressure plate of the hollow cylinder unit temporarily.
