The lifting element slides over the passage, such that the lifting element lifts a portable rand against a bumper of the passage and the guide profile is raised. A cover plate covers the passage for the guide profile. An independent claim is also included for a method for lifting and fixing a vertical guide profile for an elevator car.</p>
