PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modifying agent which is useful for uses, such as providing high adhesiveness, high resistance, softness, etc. to polyolefin, etc. and providing sealant with high adhesiveness or polyolefin with improved compatibility with inorganic filler, etc. SOLUTION: A modified propylene polymer is manufactured by modifying by a radical initiator and an organic acid a propylene copolymer satisfying the conditions of (a) mmmm =20 to 60 mol%, (b) [rrrr/(1-mmmm)]≤0.1, (c) rmrm>2.5 mol%, (d) mm×rr/(mr)<SP>2</SP>≤2.0, (e) the weight ratio (W25) of components eluted at 25°C or lower in a temperature programmed chromatography is 20 to 100 wt.%, (f) the molecular distribution (Mw/Mn) measured by the gel permeation chromatograph (GPC) is 5 or less, and/or (g) a propylene homopolymer satisfying the condition of the intrinsic viscosity [η] measured at 135°C in tetralin solvent is 0.1 deciliter/g or more, or (h) the stereoregularity index (P) measured by the<SP>13</SP>C-NMR measurement is 55 to 90 mol%. The modified propylene-based polymer obtained through the manufacturing method and an adhesive composition containing the modified propylene-based polymer are also provided.
