PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device to work based on a head drive control method capable of achieving a high-speed, high picture quality printing of letters and characters, whether on an ordinary sheet or a special sheet, without bringing about a cost increase in the wiring etc. for head driving signals transmitted from an ink-jet printer resulting from an increase in the number of recording head nozzles. SOLUTION: The ink-jet recording device includes a nozzle select signal transmitting means to transmit a nozzle select signal composed of a time sharing signal to transmit a driving pulse signal upon making time sharing for each driving block of a plurality of recording elements in n pieces (n≥2), where a signal to select the recording element to be driven out of a plurality of recording elements and a plurality of recording elements driven at one time are treated as one block, and an additional signal to make N-times multiplication of the number of driving blocks decided by the time sharing signal; and also has a selecting means to work according to the printing mode of the device in printing for selecting out of two cases, i.e. one where the additional signal is added for making N-times multiplication of the number of driving blocks decided by the time sharing signal and the other.
