<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the directivity of a hit ball by achieving a large moment of inertia. <P>SOLUTION: This wood-type golf club head 1 has a face portion 3 whose front face defines a face 2, a crown portion 4 intersecting the face 2 at the upper edge 2a thereof to form a head upper face, a sole portion 5 intersecting the face 2 at the lower edge 2b thereof to form a head base, and a side portion 6, and the club head 1 is provided with a solid part 9 in the back face side. A hollow (i) is formed between the back surface of the face portion 3 and the front surface 9a of the solid part 9.The standard state of the club head 1 is such that the axis CL of the club shaft is inclined at the lie angle while keeping the axis line on a vertical plane VP, and the face 2 is held at its loft angle, wherein the solid part 9 extends from the backmost point MB of the head at a distance TL of at least 0.08 times but at most 0.20 times the maximum size L of the head in the back-and-forth direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
