PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel supply system (200) for a gas turbine engine (10). SOLUTION: The fuel supply system (200) includes a plurality of combustors (104) grouped into a plurality of sets of combustors (20) and fuel manifolds associated with the plurality of sets of combustors (20), respectively. Each fuel manifold is connected to each of the combustor sets and supplies fuel to each of the combustor sets according to a predetermined fuel plan. The fuel supply system includes a control system (500) operably connected to each of the fuel manifolds. The control system (500) controls fuel passing and flowing in each of the intake manifolds so that the combustors associated with the first intake manifold (220) maintain at least one of diffusion flame and pilot premixed partial diffusion flame and that the combustors associated with the second fuel manifold (222) maintains premixed flame during a first mode of the operation.
