PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous coating material exhibiting excellent adhesion to polyolefins such as polypropylene, synthetic rubbers, molded products of various resins including unsaturated polyesters, epoxy resins and urethane resins, steel plates and metals such as aluminum. SOLUTION: The aqueous coating material includes (A) an aqueous dispersion containing a propylene-based resin and (B) an aqueous urethane resin, wherein, specifically, the propylene-based resin is characteristically a propylene-1-butene random copolymer. The aqueous coating material, which is excellent in adhesivity to polyolefin, is to be used, in the form of coating film, as a coating material, coating, primer or adhesive for nontreated olefin resin films or sheets, steel plates or metals such as aluminum. The aqueous coating material is excellent in compoundability with an additive such as a pigment and compatibility with other resins each containing a curing agent, and in storage stability and coating workability as well, and consists of an aqueous dispersion of a resin which generates no toxic halogen compound when incinerated.
