PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of performing a resist correction process at appropriate timing in a regular operation while reducing frequency of resist correction processes to the lowest possible when temperature in the apparatus gradually increases, for example, during consecutive printing, and to provide its method. SOLUTION: When resist correction processing is performed, on condition that a measured temperature is higher than a reference temperature by a set temperature or above (Yes in S2), the measured temperature when the resist correction processing is finished is stored as a reference temperature (S5). Thereafter, on condition that a temperature difference between the reference temperature and measured temperature has reached the set temperature or above, the resist correction processing is executed (S1). When the resist correction process is performed, on condition that the measured temperature is lower than the reference temperature by a set temperature or above (No in S2), the measured temperature when the resist correction processing is started is stored as a reference temperature (S21).
