797,381. Standard cells. MUIRHEAD & CO., Ltd. March 21, 1956 [Dec. 16, 1955], No. 36099/55. Drawings to Specification. Class 53. In a standard cell in which the active constituents are held in position by sintered porous plugs of thermoplastic material, the plugs are initially larger than the internal diameter of the tube and are forced into position. The plugs are preferably of polythene or p.t.f.e. and may be heated to soften them before they are insulated in the tube. The cell may be of the H-type or of the type described in Specifications 640,812. A small amount of electrolyte may be placed in the tube before the insertion of the plugs so that this electrolyte is forced into the pores as the plugs are pushed home. |
