PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a rigid polyurethane foam in the presence of an amine-based catalyst and a hydrocarbon-based blowing agent, and a foam improved in flowability, adhesive strength, and dimensional stability. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a rigid polyurethane foam by reacting a polyol with a polyisocyanate in the presence of an amine catalyst and a blowing agent, a catalyst composition comprising an amine compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>, and R<SB>3</SB>are each independently a 1-20C alkyl group) and one or more amine compounds selected from the group consisting of triethylenediamine, N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-1,6-hexanediamine and N,N-dimethylcyclohexylamine is used; a hydrocarbon having a boiling point of -30 to 90°C and water are used as foaming agents; and the amount of water used is 0.5-5 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. polyol.
