摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of shortening time for converging revolution speed of the internal combustion engine to a target revolution speed after early activity of catalyst. SOLUTION: The control device is equipped with an ECU. IF the ECU determines that a three way catalyst needs to be activated at an early stage immediately after starting the internal combustion engine when the internal combustion engine starts in a cold state based on a throttle opening sensor 1, an intake pipe internal pressure sensor 2, a crank angle sensor 3, a cooling water temperature sensor 4, the three way catalyst 31 placed on an exhaust gas passage 30, and detection signals from the four sensors 1-4, the ECU controls an intake air amount based on a revolution speed feed back intake air correction amount necessary for converging the revolution speed of the internal combustion engine 11 to the target revolution speed and a learning value of an intake air amount calculated from the revolution speed feed back intake air correction amount to be held. The ECU 10 prohibits calculation of the learning value of the intake air amount while the ignition timing is corrected to a lag side for activating the three way catalyst 31 immediately after cold starting of the internal combustion engine 11.
