PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus with a bending optical system that can achieve the wider angle and achieve the thin-shaped camera body. SOLUTION: A digital camera 1 includes: the camera body 2; a first optical system 20; the bending optical system 22; a second optical system 24 and an imaging element 11. The camera body 2 has a front surface 2a arranged facing an object side upon photographing the object. The first optical system 20 has a first optical axis A1, and guides the light from the object to the camera body 2. The bending optical system 22 is arranged on the first optical axis A1, and bends the light guided by the first optical system 20 in a direction along a second optical axis A2 perpendicular to the first optical axis A1. The second optical system 24 has the second optical axis A2, and the second optical axis A2 inclines to the front surface 2a so that a distance up to the front surface 2a of the camera body 2 may become smaller as it separates further from the first optical axis A1.
