<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a decrease in contrast due to boundary reflections caused by an air layer in a reflective liquid crystal display, without degrading its display quality. <P>SOLUTION: At least a reflective liquid crystal panel, a first retardation plate, a second retardation plate, a polarizer, and a light guide plate are stacked in that order. The first retardation plate is affixed or bonded to the side of the reflective liquid crystal panel, and the second retardation plate and the polarizer to the side of the polarizer.
