<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical stapling device for performing circular anastomoses. <P>SOLUTION: The surgical stapling device 10 includes a handle portion 12; an elongated body portion 14 extended from the handle portion 12 to a distal position; and a head portion 16 with a shell assembly 31 housing an anvil assembly 30 and a plurality of staples, where the anvil assembly 30 is movable with respect to the shell assembly 31 between a gap portion of the elongated body portion 14 and an elongated body portion approach portion; and an approach mechanism with an anvil retainer releasably engaging with the anvil assembly 30; and a contractible trocar assembly with a trocar slidably supported by the anvil retainer, where the contractible trocar assembly is movable between the trocar contractible portion positioned in the anvil retainer to an advancing portion extended from the anvil retainer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
