<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record a program by reservation by efficiently utilizing a free space of a recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: The video recording reservation information, which is generated when a user performs input operation on a video recorder 1, is temporarily accepted by all video recorders 1-3 connected to a network 4. The video recorders 1-3, when the time being earlier by specified time than a broadcast start time for a recording reserved program is reached, determine whether the recording reserved program can be actually recorded.
