PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emulsion composition, which has high strength, exhibits excellent vibration damping characteristics, and can form a coating film excellent in heating drying property, for a vibration damping material. SOLUTION: The emulsion composition for a vibration damping material includes emulsion prepared by emulsion polymerization of monomer components. The emulsion comprises curable monomer and/or oligomer and a polymerization initiator in an emulsion particle. The emulsion composition for a vibration damping material is an aqueous dispersion of the emulsion particles, and the water content of the aqueous dispersion is 40 mass% or lower.
