PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that network traffic is increased when a directory server receives reference request from a processing request client, and when no desired information exists on its own directory, a reference location of other directory server is transmitted to the processing request client, then the processing request client refers to the reference location, in a referral function in an LDAP protocol. SOLUTION: A directory server device accumulates the number of times that referral information are transmitted for every data to be referred. The data whose referral information are transmitted a predetermined number of times or more, are copied and fetched from the referral reference location directory server, and when the same reference request is generated afterwards, the transmission of the referral information is suppressed.
