The device (1) has a solenoid valve (2) connected to a gas stop valve (3) that is activated by a step-by-step motor (4). An electrically conducting element is driven in rotation by a rotational axis of the motor of the gas stop valve, and contacts with a printed-circuit board (14). The conducting element exerts friction efforts on a slot of the board and exerts friction by intermittence on another slot of the board, where the latter slot of the board comprises two contact zones contacting with the conducting element. An independent claim is also included for a method for securing a gas burner against a gas supplying incident caused by malfunctioning of a step-by-step motor activating a gas stop valve.
