The present invention relates to a localization method comprising the following steps: Determining a point (16, 17) of a first order of a point set (A, B) on a first map of a traffic route network; determining points (5, 6, 7, 8) of a second order from the point set (A, B) at a distance of a first order from the point (16, 17) of the first order of the point set (A, B) on the first map; determining a corresponding point of a first order of a corresponding point set on a second map; and determining corresponding points of a second order of the corresponding point set at the distance of a first order from the corresponding point of a first order of the corresponding point set on the second map. In order to realize a localization method that is suitable to locate points in expansive regions and regions far away from each other, an additional point of a first order, an additional corresponding point of a first order, additional points of a second order and additional corresponding points of a second order are determined. |
