PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paving machine which automatically controls rotation of a screw spreader when the width of a screed is contracted. SOLUTION: The paving machine is formed of: the screw spreader for spreading a paving material fed from the machine in a width direction of a chassis; and the screed expandable/contractible in the width direction of the chassis, in order to lay and level the paving material spread on a road surface to a desired paving width and a desired thickness. Herein the paving machine is composed of: a reverse rotation switch for switching a rotating direction of a screw motor for driving the screw spreader in a forward direction and a backward direction; and an expansion/contraction switch for switching an expansion direction of a screed expansion cylinder for driving the screed for expansion/contraction. Further the paving machine is composed of a controller which inverts the rotating direction of the screw motor irrespective of the operating position of the reverse rotation switch when the expansion/contraction switch is switched to a contraction position.
