<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save storage capacity of a memory for storing an extreme value, and to reduce a load on a barcode reading means or a time necessary for binarization processing. <P>SOLUTION: The barcode reader 10A includes: a light source 50; a scan mirror 20 for scanning a barcode symbol with light from the light source 50; a condenser mirror 30 for condensing reflected light on the barcode symbol; a sensor 60 for converting a condensed optical signal into an electric signal; a differential processing part 80 for generating a differential signal from the electric signal generated by the sensor 60; an extreme value detection part 90A for detecting the extreme value of the generated differential signal; an extreme value effectiveness decision part 100A for deciding whether the detected extreme value is an effective extreme value; the memory 101A for storing information related to the extreme value decided that it is effective by the extreme value effectiveness decision part 100A; and a barcode width data generation part 130A for performing the binarization processing based on the information related to the extreme value stored in the memory 101A. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
