<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible conduit of a medical device not buckling when penetrating the skin and having a simple design, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The conduit 100 includes an elongated Nitinol strip 102 having a longitudinal axis 108, a sharp head 110 extending from a distal end 104, and an etched channel 112 therein. The channel is dispositioned along the longitudinal axis, the device includes a flexible tube 114 at least partially jacketing the elongated Nitinol strip, and the channel and flexible tube define a conduit. Methods for manufacturing a medical device flexible conduit include etching a channel into an elongated Nitinol strip and forming a sharp head on a distal end of the elongated Nitinol strip, and the methods also include subsequently jacketing the flat elongated Nitinol strip with a flexible tube such that the flexible tube and channel define a conduit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
