PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device of a passenger conveyor for allowing a passenger to easily take out a cargo from the inside of an inlet part, when the cargo is pulled in the inlet part. SOLUTION: An operation piece 10 includes a passing port 10a for passing a moving handrail 4 and an operation piece side engaging part 10b arranged in the vicinity of the passing port 10a. A protective body side engaging part 5c of an inlet protective body 5 and the operation piece side engaging part 10b are engaged with each other. The inlet protective body 5 is installed in an inlet part 3a via the operation piece 10. When tensile force to the outside of a balustrade 1 in the longitudinal direction of a truss is applied to the inlet protective body 5, the protective body side engaging part 5c of the inlet protective body 5 is elastically deformed, and engagement of the inlet protective body 5 and the operation piece 10 is released.
