PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time taken to raise the temperature of a belt member to the temperature, at which fixing is possible in a fixing device using a belt member as a heat generation member for fixing a toner image on paper. SOLUTION: A pressure roll 62 is configured to move between a position to contact a fixing belt 61, supported in a manner of rotational movement by receiving an external drive force, and a position away from the fixing belt 61, and drives the fixing belt 61 rotationally by the pressure roll 62, which is set at the position of contacting the fixing belt 61. Furthermore, a fixing belt drive roll 90 is disposed so as to contact the outer circumferential surface or the inner circumferential surface of the fixing belt 61 so that the fixing belt drive roll 90 drives the fixing belt 61 rotationally, even when the pressure roll 62 is set at a position away from the fixing belt 61.
