PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device precisely performing tracking control even if the shape of a spot irradiated on a photodetector is deformed by a coma aberration generated from a half mirror. SOLUTION: The optical pickup device includes the half mirror 23 on which the laser beam emitted from a laser diode 20 is made incident. reflects the laser beam toward an objective lens 27 for condensing the laser beam to a signal recording layer disposed on an optical disk and transmits the return light reflected from the signal recording layer toward the photodetector 28, and splits the laser beam in the tracking direction of the sensor section disposed in the photodetector 28 in accordance with the spot shape of the return light to be irradiated.
