PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a closed forging apparatus capable of obtaining a desired closed state without breaking a die. SOLUTION: In a first die, a first uneven concavo-convex part is formed on the outer peripheral surface of a fixed die. In a second die, a second uneven concavo-convex part is formed on the outer peripheral surface of a movable die. On the outer peripheral side of the second die, an engagement mechanism including a plurality of split pieces and a case for holding the split pieces on the inner peripheral side is disposed. The case has a tapered shape such that the inner peripheral surface becomes smaller in diameter from the movable die to the fixed die. The split piece has a tapered shape such that the outer peripheral surface becomes smaller in diameter from the movable die to the fixed die. On the inner peripheral surface, a plurality of piece concavo-convex parts fitted in the concavo-convex parts of the first and second dies. At least one convex part fitted in the concavo part of the second die of the piece concavo-convex part is a come-off prevention means projecting toward the inside of the other convex part. The second die and the split piece are disposed in a state not to be parted, the split piece is moved along the inner peripheral surface of the case, and the concavo-convex parts of the split pieces are fitted in the concavo-convex parts of the first and second concavo-convex parts.
