PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair cosmetic and a hair treating method which can obtain a high hair treatment effect on ununiform hair such as damaged hair and twisted hair. SOLUTION: The hair treating method comprises treating the hair with a hair treatment cosmetic (A) comprising a sodium salt aqueous solution of a condensate of N-lauroyl-L-glutamate and L-lysine and a shampoo containing a sodium poly(aspartate) solution and thereafter treating the hair with a hair treatment cosmetic (B) comprising a hair treatment containing a cationic component. It is preferred that the content of the sodium salt aqueous solution of a condensate of N-lauroyl-L-glutamate and L-lysine is 0.0001-5.0 mass%, the content of the sodium poly(aspartate) solution is 0.0001-5.0 mass%, and the content of the cationic component is 0.01-20.0 mass%.
