An IC card is provided that is capable of identifying a communication format of incoming data received by non-contact communication. The IC card includes an error detection portion that, for each of a plurality of communication formats, performs error detection of incoming data based on an encoding format defined by each of the communication formats, and a format identification portion that identifies, among the plurality of communication formats, a communication format in which error information is not detected by the error detection portion as a communication format of the incoming data.
