The method involves collecting travel data (D) between a starting point (SP) and a destination point (ZP) for producing starting/destination relations (SZ). Collection process of the travel data is activated when the actual starting point of a motor vehicle corresponds to a place (ZPF) provided as a favorite destination in a navigation system (1) i.e. global positioning system (GPS)-navigation system, or is present in a periphery around the place. The travel data are stored as the relations when the destination point corresponds to the place or is present in the periphery around the place.
